Gender Based Violence

Honour killings

As Journalist I have been Reporting on Women’s Issues from Last 14 years in Pakistan but I am always disappointed because the ratio of Violence Cases against Women’s increase every year.

Education is basic right of every Child but unfortunately Girls Face more challenges when it’s about to Get Education in Rural Areas of Pakistan.

According to Pakistan Economic Survey the  Budget on Education consistently fallen from 2018.Now year 2024 to 2025 the expenditure on Education fell by 29 percent. In Baluchistan and South west Pakistan 75% Girls are out of Schools or Education system. Even ratio of boys who left the school and indulge in Child labor increase from past years.

There is an other aspect that is  quality of education in government schools is very poor. Parents who want to educate their children but cannot afford the feeses of private schools so they have no other option to enroll their children in government schools.

Adolescents face significant barriers to accessing SRHR information and services, and a high percentage of girls are married before age 18 sexual and reproductive health rights in Pakistan, less than 33 per cent of women have the autonomy to makes decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health state is accountable for its continued failure to protect and provide for sexual and reproductive health to Women’s.

Early Age Marriages is another major issue in Pakistan specially in South Punjab, KPK , Baluchistan and Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Early Age Marriages Crush the dreams of Girls. Early Age Marriages effect the mental and physical health of Girls.

Teen girls are more likely to die from complications during Childbirth marrying at an early Age also reduce a girls autonomy.

Although laws in provinces and Federal have been made to stop the early Age Marriages or before legal age according to law but implementation of law is still struggling from law enforcement agencies.

In 2024 According to SSDO Reports Gender based violence have increased to 32,617 case all over Pakistan.90,% Ratio women’s or young girls are victims of Rape, honour killings and domestic violence across the country.

Poor victims are also victims of our Justice system because extremely low conviction rates in registered cases.

Throughout year 2024 honour killings continued to claim the lives of women perpetuated by deeply ingrained societal beliefs about family dignity and shame.

These cases represent the harsh reality faced by countless women where personal autonomy and dignity are violently stripped away under the guise of preserving family honour.

It’s responsibility of State to impose the law to stop the incidents of Domestic violence and harassment on working space for women’s honour killings, early childhood marriages and need for urgent reforms in Judicial system to prevent the crimes against vulnerable part of society.
