Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi security is unconditional: ISPR DG
KARACHI: Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s armed forces, said on Thursday that Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi security is unconditional.
Speaking to Arab News, he said Pakistan is already there for the protection of Haramain Sharifain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“We remain not only committed but we are already there for the protection of the Haramain Sharifain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are there to protect them,” the DG ISPR said.
Lt Gen Chaudhry stressed that Pakistan would go to any extent as required by the Saudi leadership and the people of Saudi Arabia because “our commitment to Saudi security is unconditional”.
He explained that the commitment stems from “an emotive, a deep-rooted historical and unbreakable bond between the people of Pakistan, between the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, between the political and the military leadership of both countries. So nothing stops us. Nothing bars us”.
He remarked that nothing would make Pakistan hesitate from fulfilling its commitment to going. “So whatever is required, whatever is asked, we will go to any extent to do that.”
When asked if Pakistan is already there physically or if it is available whenever needed, the DG ISPR said: “I think the words express themselves fully once we say that we are there.”
