AJK to elect President of the State on September 24

Muzaffarabad : Election to the President of Azad Jammu Kashmir  State will be held on September  24. It was officially announced.

Unveiling the schedule of the President’s election Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice (Retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal told media in the state metropolis Tuesday morning that  polling to elect  the President of Azad Jammu Kashmir State would be held on September 24, 2026.

 Chief Election Commissioner said that  nomination papers for the President’s election would be submitted on September 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

He said the nomination papers would be filed with the Returning Officer.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers would be conducted on the same day at the office of the Chief Election Commissioner.

Justice (Retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said candidates could withdraw their nomination papers by 11:30 a.m. on September 23.

He said polling for the presidential election would be held at the Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat on September 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Chief Election Commissioner said counting of votes and announcement of the result would be made on the same day after completion of polling.

He said the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir would be elected on the basis of a majority.

Senior Member of the Election Commission Khawaja Muhammad Ahsan and Member Syed Nazir-ul-Hassan Gilani were also present on this occasion.
