EC AJK postpones polling at selected LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II stations due to landslides

MUZAFFARABAD:The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission
has postponed polling in selected areas of LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II after adverse weather conditions and road closures caused by landslides prevented election staff and polling materials from reaching the designated polling stations.

According to a press release issued by the Election Commission spokesperson, polling has been deferred in the Patwar Circles of Noseri Nosda, Panjgran, Deolian, and Panjkot. Voting in these areas will now be held on August 4, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in accordance with the scheduled polling hours.

The postponement applies to Polling Stations No. 55–67 in Patwar Circle Noseri Nosda, 107–118 in Panjgran, 119–130 in Deolian, and 159–173 in Panjkot.

The Election Commission said the decision was taken on the report of the Returning Officer for LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II. It further stated that the sealed polling bags were retrieved from the Presiding Officers by the Returning Officer against proper receipts until polling is conducted on the rescheduled date.
