Poonch Peace Jirga Calls for Dialogue, Urges Delay in Muzaffarabad March

Rawalakot: According to senior journalist Sardar Riaz Shahid, a meeting of political, social, legal, and media representatives was held in Rawalakot to discuss the current situation in Azad Kashmir, following which the Poonch Peace Jirga was formed.

The Jirga has urged the government to withdraw its decision declaring the Joint Awami Action Committee a banned organization and has appealed to the Action Committee to postpone its planned Muzaffarabad march for a few days. The aim, it said, is to provide an opportunity for resolving the issue through dialogue, understanding, and mutual consultation.

Led by Sardar Javed Sharif Advocate, Chairman of the District Council Poonch, the Jirga also called on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid any confrontation.

Members of the Jirga include Sardar Shazeb Shabbir, President of Sudhan Education; prominent businessman Sardar Shabbir Khan; senior Jamaat-e-Islami Poonch leader Sardar Qayyum Afsar; President of the District Bar Poonch Sardar Javed Nisar; and President of Ghazi Millat Press Club RawalakotSardar Shafqat Zia.
