AJK Police always stands allert, vigilant for fulfillment of due responsibilities to fight against terrorism and extremism: IGP AJK Yasin Qureshi
MIRPUR ( AJK) : “Over the past years, the Azad Jammu Kashmir Police, in collaboration with other national institutions of security and law enforcement agencies, has ensured the fulfillment of important responsibilities in the fight against terrorism and extremism”, AJK Police chief Muhammad Yasin Qureshi said.
Inspector General of Police Azad Jammu Kashmir Muhammad Yasin Qureshi expressed these while addressing 61st Passing Out Parade of aAJK police at the police training school in the State metropolis on Thursday.
The IGP Yasin Qureshi continued that the sacrifices of the martyred police will always be remembered. The police personnel injured and disabled during the line of duty stand as our pride, he said adding the police force will always remember the sacrifices of its martyred and injured soldiers. The AJK police force, he said, ensured peace and stability by sacrificing precious lives. “Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police is fulfilling its responsibilities as a frontline force for the establishment of law and order in the state, eradication of crime and protection of life, property and honor of the people”, he said.
The AJK Police chief said Azad Jammu Kashmir Police is a unique force that, like other provinces, deals with various challenges without the support of paramilitary forces. ” He emphasized that the police have to remain active on every front in the state, including crime prevention, general elections, local body elections, major sports events, traffic management, security of foreign guests and protection of dignitaries, since the police also plays the role of first responder in unexpected situations like earthquake, flood, snowfall and landslide, he added.
“Timely promotion, incentives and improvement in the martyrs package will increase the performance of the personnel.
Inspector General Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police Muhammad Yasin Qureshi while presenting certificates of appreciation at the 61st Recruits Passing Out Parade at Police Training School , said that the police is the heir of the martyred police. The police, he further said, gave Supreme sacrifices of their lives for the establishment of law and order by taking bullets on their chests.
The Inspector General of Police paid rich tribute to the police personnel who were martyred and injured in the recent two to three years, including Muhammad Zulfiqar (ASI) Kotli, Abdul Rauf (ASI) Rawalakot, Sajjad Resham Bagh, Tariq Bashir Rawalakot, Gulfraz Constable Reserve, Adnan Farooq Sub-Inspector Mirpur, Muhammad Khurshid Constable Bagh, Muhammad Jamil and Tahir Rafiq Kashmil Crime Branch Muzaffarabad for sacrificing their lives. In addition, the Inspector General of Police also paid tribute to those who suffered permanent disabilities while performing their duties, including Areeb Aslam Constable, Rashid Mahmood Driver, Muhammad Farooq Constable Rawalakot and Syed Ahmed Shah (ASI) Muzaffarabad.
The Inspector General of Police also paid tribute to Zeeshan Javed, who lost both his hands in the fight against terrorism. The Inspector General of Police said that these martyrs and injured were ours and will remain ours. We will not let the sacrifices of the martyrs go in vain. He said that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police will have to take steps to adapt to modern requirements and ensure the acquisition of professional training and technology.
“The nature of crimes was changing with time, for which an organized, trained and equipped force with modern resources is indispensable”, he said.. In the appreciation letter, the IG Police also pointed out the lack of facilities in the Police Training School, insufficient barracks for the ladies police, shortage of training budget and the need to increase operational resources.
Qureshi said that in the past years, the transport fleet, anti-riot equipment and other modern equipment were increased with the resources provided by the government, however, the manpower and infrastructure requirements still require attention. Despite the establishment of new police stations, many buildings have fallen into disrepair and their reconstruction is inevitable.
On this occasion, he congratulated the passing out recruits and appreciated the efforts of their families and training staff. IG Police Muhammad Yasin Qureshi said that keeping the morale and spirit of the force high is of utmost importance.
He expressed his resolve that the Azad Jammu Kashmir Police will continue to discharge its responsibilities diligently for the restoration of public order and public service in the state. Ends
