Chairman District Council Sardar Javed Sharif remarked that the service would prove especially beneficial for the underprivileged segments of society. He urged drivers and the public to fully cooperate in making the initiative successful and to maintain courteous behavior with passengers so that maximum people can benefit from the facility.
Launched under special directives of the Government of Pakistan, the service in its initial phase will provide free travel to nine different intra-city local routes.
Students, public and private employees, laborers, and other citizens will be able to travel to their destinations without paying any fare, while transport owners will be compensated by the government.
The free transport service has already been successfully introduced in various cities of Pakistan, including Muzaffarabad, where it received a positive response. With its launch in Rawalakot, it is expected to provide significant relief to the public and make daily commuting more convenient.
