AJK Cabinet reaffirms confidence in PM Gillani, vows Development and good governance
Muzaffarabad : The AJK Cabinet, which met here with Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani in the chair, congratulated the newly elected premier on assuming office and expressed its full confidence in his leadership.The meeting appreciated Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani’s vision for the development of the state and prosperity of its people, describing it as being in line with the requirements of the 21st century. It also appreciated his commitment to utilizing all available resources and means to translate this vision into reality.
Through a unanimous resolution, the cabinet appreciated the significant contributions of the Pakistan Army, police, law enforcement agencies and other relevant government institutions for their unprecedented role in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the general elections. The meeting also lauded the Chief Election Commissioner, members and other staff for conducting the elections in the best possible manner.
The cabinet appreciated the Kashmiri people’s expression of confidence in the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and their support for the formation of a PML-N government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting reiterated that the Kashmiri people value the PML-N leadership for their commitment to the development, prosperity, stability and democratic process of Pakistan.
The cabinet also expressed satisfaction over the Joint Mecca Defense Agreement, describing it as an important development for the unity, mutual cooperation and peace of the Muslim world, as well as for safeguarding its collective interests. The meeting congratulated the leadership of the Islamic world, as well as the leaderships of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, on the important development and expressed hope that the defense agreement would help promote regional and global peace.The cabinet strongly condemned the attempted drone attack near the holy city of Mecca and expressed complete solidarity with the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting appreciated the efforts made under the leadership of Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Chief Minister of Punjab Ms. Maryam Nawaz for public welfare, economic stability, development projects, increased employment opportunities and the provision of basic facilities to the people of Azad Kashmir.
The cabinet expressed its resolve to fully resume the process of development that, it said, was halted after the fall of the Muslim League government in 2021 in Azad Kashmir.Through a separate resolution, the cabinet expressed deep concern over the continuously deteriorating human rights situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and called for an end to violations of fundamental human rights and restrictions on civil liberties.
The meeting urged the international community, particularly the United Nations and other international human rights organizations, to take notice of the situation in occupied Kashmir and play an effective role in protecting the fundamental human rights of the Kashmiri people and promoting a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.
The cabinet reiterated that all relevant departments and institutions of the government would utilize their full capabilities to ensure public welfare, improve governance, promote merit and transparency, ensure the timely completion of development projects and provide relief to the people.
