Mirpur marks Kashmir Exploitation Day with grand Rally amidst Pakistan Zindabad slogans.
MIRPUR:: In Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Exploitation Day dignified ceremony and protest rally were held in Mirpur on Wednesday to observe Kashmir Exploitation Day, reaffirming full solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The ceremony was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mirpur, Chaudhry Sajid Aslam, while the rally taken out from the District Courts premises and concluded at Shaheed Chowk.
Led by the city elite from all segments of the civil society besides Deputy Commissioner Sajid Aslam Chaudhry, SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal, Deputy Director Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell Sardar Azeem Sarwar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Naeem Chaudhry, Assistant Commissioners Hassam Sajid and Tanveer-ul-Islam, Tehsildar Chaudhry Imran Yousaf, representatives of the traders’ community, employees’ organisations, civil society, media personnel, heads of various government departments, and a large number of citizens, the rally passed through various city streets raising slogans against Indian imperialism for Delhi’s forced and illegal August 5, 2019 sinister action.
Participants raised ZIndabas slogans for Pakistan and expressed unwavering solidarity with the people of IIOJK. They reiterated their commitment to extending political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to self-determination.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Sajid Aslam described August 5, 2019, as a “dark chapter” in South Asian and the Jammu Kashmir’s history caused by India’s unwarrented action of revoking the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir state. He said the move violated United Nations Security Council resolutions, international law and globally recognised human rights principles.
Sajid Aslam Chaudhry, Chairman National Events Organizing Committee alleged that the post-August 2019 situation in IIOJK had witnessed increased human rights violations, arrests of political activists, restrictions on freedom of expression, curbs on the media, and attempts to alter the region’s demographic composition. He urged the international community to play an effective role in addressing these concerns.
Speakers said the observance of Kashmir Exploitation Day aimed to remind the international community that the people of Kashmir continued their peaceful struggle for the right to self-determination. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and said their struggle would continue until they were granted the right to determine their future in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
They further said that the governments of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir would continue to raise the Kashmir issue at national and international forums and extend political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people. He also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s armed forces, stating that their professionalism and resolve had safeguarded the country’s security.
Speakers called upon the United Nations, international human rights organisations and the global community to take notice of the alleged human rights violations in IIOJK and play their role in ensuring the Kashmiri people receive their fundamental rights.
The participants paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir and reaffirmed their commitment to highlighting the Kashmiri cause at every available forum. They also expressed solidarity with Pakistan’s security institutions and prayed for upgradation of the status of the martyrs of Kashmir, peace, stability and prosperity in Pakistan, continual successes of its valiant armed forces, and unity among the Muslim Ummah.
