PM AJK reaffirms commitment to Foolproof Security during Muharram
Muzaffarabad: Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore Tuesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to ensure peace and security throughout the sanctified month of Muharram ul Haraam to provide a safe environment for citizens across Azad Jammu and Kashmir including in the state metropolis, it was officially said.
In a special message on the eve of Muharram ul Haraam, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, inter-sect harmony, and strict security arrangements across the region during the holy month commencing from Wednesday June 17, it was officially said.
In a statement, issued on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said that Muharram teaches lessons of sacrifice, patience, tolerance, and selflessness. He stressed that maintaining inter-sectarian harmony during this sacred month is essential under all circumstances.
The Prime Minister directed law enforcement agencies that foolproof security arrangements must be ensured throughout Muharram. He instructed the police, district administration, and all law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any untoward situation.
Faisal further directed all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to remain present in the field to directly monitor arrangements. Continuous coordination with organizers of Imam Bargahs and Hussainia halls should be ensured so that no difficulties arise during religious gatherings and processions.
The PM also issued special instructions to provide all basic facilities to participants along Muharram procession routes. In view of the intense summer heat, the provision of clean drinking water and medical aid was ordered to be prioritized.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the protection of life and property of mourners of Imam Hussain (AS) is the government’s foremost responsibility. He said that all relevant departments must work in coordination under a unified strategy to maintain peace and order.
Appealing to religious scholars, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore urged them to play their role in promoting peace, unity, and brotherhood during Muharram so that an atmosphere of religious harmony and mutual respect is strengthened in society.
