AJK electricity transmission to be upgraded with Federal Rs10 Billion Package: PM AJK

Muzaffarabad : Prime Minister Azad Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, has said that the upgradation of the electricity system would be carried out soon after
receiving a 10 billion rupees package from the federal government.

He was speaking on a call-attention notice during a session of the Azad
Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, presided over by Speaker
Chaudhry Latif Akbar, here today.

He said that the issue of electricity supply in Rawalakot will be resolved by December
22.Referring to the rapid surge in Electricity consumption,

The Prime Minister said the state’s electricity demand has risen from 350
megawatts a year ago to over 600 megawatts following the provision of
low-cost electricity. The sharp increase in electricity consumption,
he said, has put additional pressure on the transmission lines.

He further said that the 10 billion rupees package pledged by the federal
government for the upgradation of the electricity transmission lines
across Azad Kashmir will be instrumental to improve the overall
system.
