PPP leaders emphasize public service and development during PM AJK’s visit to Poonch and Rawalakot
Poonch : During his visit to Poonch, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir addressed a grand gathering at the Circuit House in Rawalakot, accompanied by former President and Prime Minister Haji Yaqub Khan, who expressed solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir and praised Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal General Asim Munir and the Pakistan Armed Forces for their successful defense of the homeland. He highlighted that following the Battle of Truth, the Kashmir issue has once again gained international attention. He assured that the sacrifices of Kashmiris will not go in vain and promised to meet public expectations.
Haji Yaqub Khan stressed the importance of youth training, unity, and public service, adding that Poonch is the land of martyrs and heroes, and the current achievements are the fruits of the sacrifices of their elders. He emphasized that true recognition in politics comes through practical service, and serving the public must remain the primary mission.
Former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, speaking at the gathering, said that the people of Poonch are heirs of martyrs and heroes. He recalled holding local government elections under difficult circumstances during his tenure and maintaining the dignity of state institutions. He also praised the bravery of the Pakistani armed forces in defending the nation.
Sardar Abid Hussain Abid, addressing the public meeting in Rawalakot, demanded inclusion of Chak Hospital and Rawalakot Medical College in the PSDP, construction of a new jail, divisional headquarters posts, improved road and water supply schemes, the Direk Dam, and provision of water from the Jhelum River to Rawalakot, along with facilities for cardiac patients and equal rights for Rawalakot compared to other divisions. He predicted that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would emerge victorious in upcoming elections from Rawalakot, and praised the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir for his historic initiatives.
Former Government Advisor Sardar Amjad Yusuf Khan said that previous announcements on public issues in Azad Kashmir were often unimplemented, but the current PPP-led government has already begun taking practical measures. He emphasized ending the culture of strikes and maintaining PPP’s key role in Rawalakot’s development.
Government Advisor Sardar Fahad Yaqub Khan highlighted that the Prime Minister is working with sincerity and a spirit of public service, and resolving public issues remains the government’s top priority. Concrete steps are being taken to address challenges faced by local government representatives.
The public meeting also featured speeches by former assembly candidate Sardar Saud Sadiq, District President Sardar Amir Khurshid, Raja Ejaz Advocate, Bilal Advocate, Sardar Amjad Azam, Zafar Mehmood Ashraf, and others, all praising the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir for his historic initiatives and commitment to public service.
