Kashmiri delegation meets Turkish relief agency IHH in Istanbul, seeks support against Indian atrocities
Istanbul, Türkiye : A delegation led by former Ameere Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Abdul Rasheed Turabi, currently visiting Türkiye, met with officials from International Affairs Department of Türkiye’s international humanitarian relief agency, IHH, in the capital city of Istanbul.
This agency not only provided large-scale assistance & temporary shelters to the victims of devastating earthquake on 8 October 2005 in Pakistan & Azad Kashmir and subsequent floods, but also organized the Mavi Marmara Freedom Flotilla in 2010 to break the blockade of Gaza & deliver aid. During that mission, the flotilla was attacked by Zionist Israel, resulting in the martyrdom of several individuals.
The meeting took place at the central headquarters of the IHH organization in Istanbul. The delegation included Nazeer Ahmed Qureshi, Chairman of the Relief Organization for Kashmiri Muslims (ROKM) and representative of Jamaat-e-Islami from IIOJK.
On this occasion, Qureshi briefed the Turkish agency on the current ground realities in IIOJK. He stated that after the abrogation of Article 370 on 5 August 2019 by India, which revoked the special status of the region, the Kashmiri people have been paying a heavy price.
He highlighted that the Muslim majority in IIOJK is being turned into a minority, properties, homes, & lands of Kashmiris are being illegally seized. Young Kashmiris are being jailed under infamous & draconian laws such as Public Safety Act (PSA) & Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) on baseless & fabricated charges. These detainees are neither presented in courts nor are the courts taking notice of their unjust arrests.
Furthermore, Kashmiri youth are being denied admission to educational institutions & employment opportunities, which are now being offered to Indian citizens instead. In this way, the local population is being made strangers in their own homeland & left helpless.
Qureshi emphasized that despite Modi’s oppressive actions, the Kashmiri people have not accepted India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir & continue their struggle for the right to self-determination. This ongoing resistance is part of the same chain of great & eternal sacrifices that began on 27 October 1947, when, in Jammu, nearly 350,000 Muslims were massacred by Dogra forces in collaboration with Hindu extremist groups like RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal, & other goons.
He urged the Turkish agency to play its role in exposing the atrocities committed by India in IIOJK, noting that Türkiye is located at the crossroads of Europe & is a NATO ally. The Kashmiri delegation also requested that the Turkish agency send its own delegations to assess the ground situation in IIOJK, so they can witness the oppression being inflicted on the Kashmiri people firsthand.
The Turkish agency assured the Kashmiri delegation that just as it exposes the genocide by Zionist Israel in Gaza, it will also not hesitate to play its role in exposing the genocide being carried out by Brahmin-led India in IIOJK, in order to help save innocent human lives.
The Kashmiri delegation expressed gratitude to the Turkish agency officials for their willingness to highlight & expose Indian atrocities in IIOJK.
