WhatsApp services again disrupted in Pakistan ahead of PTI Islamabad Jalsa

LAHORE – Whatsapp became inaccessible in parts of Pakistan including Lahore, and Islamanad at most data service providers as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI set to flex its muscles in outskirts of federal capital Islamabad.

Not only entry and exit points of Islamabad remain blocked ahead of Sunday’s political gathering but users also faced disruption while sharing messages – especially pictures and videos.

On Sunday, WhatsApp users across Pakistan faced issues with file sharing when using mobile data. While those connected to broadband enjoy uninterrupted messaging, disruptions have been reported by individuals relying on mobile data services.

Amid Whatsapp disruption, other social platforms including YouTube worked fine.

Pakistan’s internet issues, which have affected speeds and connectivity for about two months, are expected to persist.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) anticipates completing these repairs by early October. Conflicting explanations emerged, with officials initially blaming the cable faults, while others, including state minister suggested increased VPN use might be a factor.

There are also reports that a government-imposed firewall could be impacting internet performance.
