Rawalpindi Election Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chattha resigns over ‘election rigging’
RAWALPINDI – Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatta on Saturday resigned from his post in protest against irregularities in recently held general elections 2024.
The officer announced his resignation in a press conference at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium while admitting that rigging took place in elections in Rawalpindi division.
Taking responsibility of the irregularities, he said the losers were converted into winners by a big margin.
He also surrendered himself before the police for his involvement in the illegal activity.

In a brief media talk, he said: “I was unable to sleep due to what I have done in elections”. He said chief election commissioner, chief justice and others are involved in the massive election rigging.
“My ancestors fought against foreigners for independence of Pakistan and I cannot become part of any anti-country activity,” he said, adding that he presented himself for trial.
He said all those involved in this election rigging must be brought to justice.
