Indian forces, NIA continue massive crackdown in South Kashmir

Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): Indian forces’ personnel and dreaded National Investigation Agency continued a massive crackdown in different districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, subjecting the residents to severe harassment.

Indian Army, paramilitary and police personnel and NIA sleuths launched a violent crackdown in Shopian, Kulgam, Islamabad and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir after the injuring of three non-local labourers in a firing incident in Gagran area of Shopian on Thursday. The locals told the media that the Indian troops and police have arrested several youth while many others have been summoned and questioned at police stations and army camps in the last three days. They said the Indian forces’ personnel barge into the residential houses, harass the inmates and vandalize the household goods. Indian troops continued searches and house raids in different areas of Kathua district of Jammu region also, causing immense inconvenience to the locals.

On the other hand, protests were held in different areas of the occupied territory against the anti-people policies of the authorities. People staged a sit-in protest in Surankote area of Poonch district against the opening of a wine shop at Potha Bypass. They demanded immediate closure of the wine shop. Farmers assembled at Nandpur in Samba district and strongly protested against the authorities’ failure to provide regular power supply for running their agricultural pumpsets. The residents of Mahore area of Reasi district staged a protest after five shops were gutted in a fire incident. They urged the administration to set up a fire station to prevent loss of property and life due to fire incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement issued in Srinagar said the Modi regime has unleashed a reign of terror against the Muslim population of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It said the Indian troops are continuously committing systematic human rights violations to intimidate the Kashmiris into submission but will never succeed in their nefarious designs. The APHC urged the international community to hold India accountable for its war crimes in IIOJK.

Senior leader of Indian National Congress in occupied Kashmir, Prof Saifuddin Soz, in a statement in Srinagar said the Kashmiris will never ever accept the August 05, 2019 illegal and unconstitutional actions of the Narendra Modi-led Indian government. KMS
