Security forces neutralise 10 India-backed terrorists in KP operations: ISPR

At least 10 India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists were killed in two separate operations by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

The security forces also thwarted an attempted attack on their checkposts in the Azam Warsak area of the South Waziristan district in the first encounter on Thursday, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

“During ensuing fire exchange, eight khawarij were sent to hell through effective and precise engagements by own troops,” it added.

In another encounter that took place in the Dir district the same day, the security forces successfully neutralised two more terrorists.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed India-sponsored terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terror activities in the area.

Sanitisation operations were conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area following the engagements, the ISPR said.

The military vowed to continue the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam to wipe out foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Pakistan witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its KP and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.

Islamabad has consistently maintained that India supports militant groups operating from Afghan territory to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

It has also repeatedly called on the Afghan Taliban-led administration to take effective action against terrorist organisations using Afghan soil to launch cross-border attacks.

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), KP and Balochistan remained the country’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026, with KP emerging as the worst-affected region.

The report stated that KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded during the quarter. Of the total deaths, more than 61% (475) were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 34% (265).

KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, representing 57% of the nationwide total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, or 35%, underscoring the concentration of militant activity in the two provinces.
