GSP+, Trade on agenda as Pakistan, EU take Partnership to next level
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and European Union (EU) underscored urgent need to strengthen trade and investment relations, including through EU’s coveted GSP+ arrangement.
The announcement came during the 7th Strategic Dialogue, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, in Brussels.
The high-level meeting provided sweeping review of entire spectrum of Pakistan-EU relations, capitalising on the momentum from recent top-tier engagements and ongoing institutional interactions.
Both sides made a firm commitment to a broad, multidimensional, and forward-looking partnership anchored in shared values, adherence to the UN Charter, multilateralism, and mutual respect.

The dialogue also opened the floor to discussions on pressing regional and global issues, ranging from South Asia and Afghanistan to the Middle East and broader geopolitical developments.
Highlighting their joint determination to tackle global challenges, the leaders stressed coordinated approaches to peace, stability, sustainable development, climate change, and connectivity. They pledged to intensify collaboration under the Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP 2019), advance existing dialogues, and chart concrete pathways to expand their cooperation in the years ahead.
